Discuss ways to successfully implement aromatherapy into a clinical unit/practice with ease and confidence. Describe how healthcare staff can use aromatherapy quickly to bring peace and balance for themselves. Identify case situations of how aromatherapy may be part of a patient plan of care for relaxation and comfort.
Aromatherapy is very popular in healthcare settings. Concerns arise for safe practice with patients. In addition, nurses and other healthcare providers relate time constraints and lack of knowledge for not using aromatherapy as part of a plan of care. This webinar will share practical ideas and examples of how aromatherapy is being used in our outpatient oncology setting and other areas of our hospital system. During the pandemic, the focus became helping our staff reduce their anxiety and be more in balance using aromatherapy. This practice continues with our staff and tips will be shared to increase staff resiliency. Although the focus is on healthcare providers, this information can be applied to other aromatherapy-related settings. Debra Reis is a Clinical Nurse Specialist with a focus on holistic therapies. Deb is certified as a clinical aromatherapist, Healing Touch practitioner, and Nia Movement instructor. She is an author, researcher, and presenter on holistic modalities specifically in clinical settings. Deb is a member of the AIA Clinical Committee. Deb is the Coordinator for the Healing Care Program at the ProMedica Cancer Institute sharing integrative therapies for those with a cancer diagnosis. The healthcare staff also are included in receiving healing care tools for their balance.
